I had inquired about The Park People’s “Legacy Tree” program about 18 months ago and hadn’t received a reply. This summer I tried again and was put in touch with a wonderful lady named Anastasia who was just taking over the Legacy Program. I could not recommend the program itself or the woman running it more highly.

I was very particular about both the location of the tree and the type of tree that I was looking for and Anastasia was not only patient with me but she went above and beyond to make the dedication of our tree fit within our requirements as well as our timeline. A non profit trying to coordinate with both Parks & Rec and the Urban Forestry Dept can be frustrating I would imagine and even when, at the last minute, Forestry received a bad batch of trees, she made sure that we had an absolutely GORGEOUS tree in the ground @ Wash Park in time for a very carefully orchestrated gathering of friends and family from around the globe.

Thanks Anastasia and TPP for your part in a beautiful memorial that will bring joy to the family for generations to come.

I love everything The Park People stand for! This is a very efficiently run non profit so your dollars are really going towards their mission. The Denver Digs program is my favorite. I got a tree from them when I first bought my house and I couldn't afford to buy one myself. My huge lot didn't have one tree and most of my neighborhood is lacking trees too. The Park People are working to change that, Skyland is identified as a "low canopy" neighborhood so they give out free trees here on Earth Day so hopefully in 15 years, we will have tree lined streets like Wash Park!

I am a proud volunteer of TPP.. I love their message of, putting trees in the ground in neighborhoods that don't have as many trees. I am also thankful for the many volunteers who enrich the community by participating in all the programs.

This idea and non profit has the best of intentions. I was one of the early individuals to get a tree for the Right of way planted in front of My house. 15 years later and the tree is pushing up the sidewalk, which I have to repair, it will cost 3grand to have it trimmed because the permitting required to close lanes of traffic. And now branches are breaking off and the city forestry won't help you with any of it.
