I had elected to donate my son organs, he had also via his driver's license. Donor Alliance, made this entire process beyond an emotional nightmare. After stopping the overwhelming process and letting my son pass peacefully, they meet his body at the funeral home and harvested what they could after I said no. This is a money making business do your research. Please do not elect Organ Donor on your driver's license and allow your family to decide what they're able to emotionally deal with. I was promised a rose garden and each hour that passed, those promises changed. I think Organ donation in itself is very honorable, but know this is not easy for the family. After 3 days of our families suffering I elected to stop the process, within the first hour of my son's passing Donor Alliance had contacted 2 family member still trying to harvest what they could from his body, when told NO, then arrived at the funeral home as they opened at 8 am and did harvest what they could. I only found out after the funeral home informed me of this. Shame on you!

Follow up: Your response is a blatant lie. He was NEVER transported by you as I stopped the process and Gillette Memorial will tell you that you did indeed have a team there at 8 am to harvest his eye lenses, of which was the one think I originally said NO to. I see you're capable of damage control, but maybe you should have reached out to me before responding. It took 5+ months to respond.

Sadly, I have a story similar to Jody Holt. My husband elected to be an organ donor at the DMV decades ago. After an experience with a loved one close to us and other personal reasons, my husband decided he did not want to be an organ donor anymore. He explicitly told his wishes to me and all of his children over the course of the last 10 years. My husband passed away at the hospital six months ago and the hospital Chaplin approached us after my husband‘s death. He said that he saw my husband was an organ donor. Both myself and my oldest child that were in the room informed the chaplain that NO, my husband had changed his mind and he no longer wanted to be a donor. That was that. After reviewing My husband‘s medical records that I obtained from the hospital months later, I saw on the discharge form a nurse filled out under organ and tissue donation, “yes, eyes”. I thought to myself surely this must be a mistake and thought nothing else of it. Fast forward six months after my husband died and I am sitting in the ICU speaking with another nurse that I work with. She informs me that regardless of the family wishes, donor alliance will take whatever they want after a patient’s death. I was shocked!! This is when I knew that they really had taken my husband’s eyes and for that matter, who knows what else! If I hadn’t requested his records and happened to work in the hospital setting I would’ve never found out about this! I am all for donation, but to not tell the family that you’re taking parts and pieces off their loved one is unforgivable and I will spread the word far and wide to raise awareness because I do not believe this is acceptable! How dare you Donor Alliance. Gross and disgusting. My husband thought his wishes would be respected by sharing with me- I really feel like I let him down and now I have to live with that.

My daughter became an organ, eye, and tissue donor after a tragic accident in 2011. During the darkest days of our lives, Donor Alliance arrived on the scene like a blanket of comfort and grace. Soon afterwards, my family became involved in the Advocates for Life volunteer program, which has unlocked so many opportunities for us to share our story and help raise awareness. From my very first encounter to present day, I have found every staff member to be compassionate and considerate. My family and I have a deep, deep love for Donor Alliance, the entire staff, and everything the organization has brought to our lives.

My experience with the Donor Alliance has been very positive and healing. I am a Donor Mom and have been an Advocate for the Donor Alliance for two years. During that time, I have had the opportunity to work closely with a very talented, professional and compassionate group of individuals who are very committed to their mission of saving lives. They have allowed me the opportunity as well as the community platform to share my son’s story and to inspire others to say yes to donation.

How do you start a review about the most compassionate and caring organization. I am a donor mom and have been an advocate for 15+ years. They continue to support and care about my family. During the most difficult decision a family has to make, they were there to explain the process of organ donation. I felt no pressure from them and I said absolutely to donating my daughters organs at the time of her death. No mother ever should have to make that decision but I'm so glad I did. Because of donating 3 people have had a second chance of life. if you are in doubt about organ donation please take a moment and educate yourself. You could be someones hero.
