I’ll be honest—I wasn’t expecting much when I walked into Sunshine Market in St. Helena. Finding kosher food in wine country isn’t always easy, and I figured I’d have to settle for some fruit, a bag of almonds, and maybe a bottle of wine if I got lucky.

But within minutes, I realized this place is different.

First, the selection. Kosher? Check. Fresh produce? Check. Pantry staples, snacks, and even some harder-to-find specialty items? Check, check, and check. And then I saw the wine section—a solid lineup of kosher wines, including Israeli and California options that were actually worth getting excited about. Suddenly, I wasn’t just piecing together a meal—I was planning a feast.

Then there was the staff. You know how sometimes you ask for help, and someone vaguely points you in a direction? Not here. These people know their stuff. When I asked about kosher options, they didn’t just send me to one shelf—they actually walked me through, pointed out hidden gems, and made recommendations that turned out to be spot on.

Bottom line? If you keep kosher and you’re in Napa, you need to stop at Sunshine Market. No scrambling, no settling—just great food, amazing wine, and a shopping experience that actually feels enjoyable. This place is a game-changer.

Great selection of cheeses, wines and general groceries. Prices definitely quite a bit higher than elsewhere in the U.S. Specifically imported cheeses seem too high. Overall good to shop here, though.

We love Sunshine Market--a wonderful local treasure in St. Helena. Great deli sandwiches for Wine Country picnics, excellent cheeses, and even a great virthday cake we picked up for guests in a pinch--it's an excellent grocery and so cute and friendly.

Damn good sandwiches, delicious, bakery, butcher, drinks (alcoholic, juice, energy, etc), and cheese! Honestly if you're on the area and need anything or want a snack, just pop in.

This is a great place to pickup things for a picnic lunch. They have a great deli for ordering sandwiches or choose the grab and go items prepared. Lots of choices. This is also a traditional grocery store if you happen to be at a time share or air B&B. They have a sizeable parking lot but store can get very busy.

They stock many unique hard to find, or local fine food items. The prices are higher but it's expected in this high quality store. Black truffle potato chips! Stop by and check it out if you are in the area.

Very nice deli with plenty of choices. Sandwiches are very tasty, had the veggie special.

A nice place to stop by and by some wine if can make it to one of the winarries in the Napa Valley. If you are writing your bike this is a good time for a quick bike stop to grab a couple power bars or water.
