I wanted to donate some items till the Salvation Army. They no longer do free pick ups for larger donated items. They use another entity. I don’t know if it’s connected with them or not but there’s a fee to pick up items. So you go online you describe what you’re donating. They give you a price which for me was $159. OK, no problem. You pay an $18 fee. They come and pick up the items and then they charged me twice the initial quote $329. I would never ever in life donate anything to them again. It would’ve been better if I just left the stuff outside on the curb someone would’ve taken it. The items were in good condition. It was a couch and an exercise bike. They charged me for two couches because the couch was a sectional in two separate pieces. A chaise portion and loveseat portion, counted as two couches. They also include a tip. I’m so disappointed that I had to pay to donate items. I was fine with the $159 not with the $329. I wish I could give zero stars. I will never donate to them again.

I live directly across from salvation army in salt lake. I will give them props for distributing food given from the Utah Food Bank. Other than that, I'm not aware of ANYTHING they do for the community. They have 3 buildings besides the church that they own and only use for storage. I was told by regional that they had plans to build something bigger. I don't believe them. I've witnessed for 10 years nothing, not even breaking ground. Today's Salvation Army is not the living caring army of decades gone past. I would never donate to this money hungry church. Might as well be LDS

I am a 74 year old widow living on a fixed income. For years the Salvation Army, primarily in West Covina Ca m, was my go to store to donate and to shop on senior day where we received a discount. I spent thousands and donated regularly until just before covid began, some upstart CEO decided to eliminate the discount for seniors that was offered one day a week. I have boycotted that store ever since. And now I just started a campaign at the senior clubs i attend to encourage other seniors to boycott the store! After all, seniors are the ones who donate the most there and shop the most there! I was incensed that our mere one day discount was removed! Until it is reinstated, you will not receive donations from me or my many friends nor will we shop there!!
We now shop and donate to Savers who offer a 30% discount every tuesday for seniors and a 20% coupon for any day when i leave my donations there. Supposedly, Salvation Army used to do good work but now they will have less senior support to do it for this slap in the face stupid decision! Whoever did that should be fired!

I've been donating to the salvation army in Canoga Park on Roscoe for years and when I experienced racism at that location I will never step foot in a salvation army again nor will I be making any more donations, not saying the salvation army is racist but that location definitely have racist employees working there.

I literally asked help for school supplies and clothing for my 3 Children and the lady literally tells me that she cant help me or re-route for any of my help than why do they even have her or any of these workers sitting to answer that phone for clients that need help. I dislike selfish people/employees so why even donate things to them
