It was five years ago in December when I first visited. I was checking out new possible home churches. I recall the pastor being right-on with the scriptures. Not too many pastors preach the word from their heart the way pastor Jim did. The people there were very friendly I felt as if l had dropped-in on a large family event. It was a great experience. I did chat with pastor right after service. I sense the hospitality there is typical of this church. I dont remember the other churches. I know God is there.

Just to clarify... I have been to this since church since childhood and have only known this church as FIRST BAPTIST TEMPLE CITY. Yes I have been there that long and I will not get into my background. I will try my best to get straight to the point knowing that I believe that it is time to really speak out, so I wish to explain as thorough as I can. Whether or not you will believe this review, I will say most of my experiences, if not all. I had been going to this church... maybe around 1999. However, since the pandemic of 2019, I stopped going. Now, mind you... I have been going to this church EVERY SUNDAY since 1999.
First off, the only good thing: the children program is spectacular experience if you have a family who is in search of a community, your children can be involved on children's night playing sports, food provided, bible lessons and at the end of the night, rated G movies. There is a children's theatre that your child can attend to for the yearly Christmas play. There is also times where they offer trips to Thousand Pines. It is a Christian-based camp that is well-known throughout churches of LA and Southern California. And yeah... that's about it... I can say nice things about ONE HOPE CHURCH. That's the only positive I can speak of.
HEED THESE WORDS that I understand truly, that not all churches are "perfect", and are "supposed" to welcome the "imperfect" to make God's grace and purpose, "perfect". HOWEVER... if the "imperfections of sin" is not treated within the church... it will fester and grow until become extremely difficult to be treated, like a untreated infection. That has been of what One Hope stands, rotten to the core.
Now to the point the ugly side of the insides...
2005/2006 was the turning point where my experiences was going to be a downhill spiral from transitioning from the children's program to youth ministry... What encountered to me was the point that I knew I was not going to have a fun time... this next section will be the juicy part...
This place has a MAJOR(x6) problem with FAVORITISM, JUDGMENTS, AND NEGLIGENCE. Going through youth group was like I never belong there. YES I go places with the church, YES I have always been involved for the church, and YES I have contributed physically emotionally and spiritually by the church but have never been treated the same as the previous youth pastors treated to their own "likings". Its like... there's a chance that you will be liked the moment you walk in as newcomer, or you have earn their "liking" to be on their level which is utterly, insane. There maybe and will be suffering of the unwelcome-ness, depending of the "chances" you have. Even if one "tries" to work at it, like being constantly involved with the church/youth group and giving it all; it will be all in vain because they will still not be satisfied. What's really troubling is that they CANNOT BE TRUSTED WITH PERSONAL ISSUES, hence the "judgement". I opened once... and have never again.
They "favorite" those who they like. "Judge" to those of who and what they don't understand. Therefore, "neglect" those who they don't wish to check in and help those in need. I was never really "favorited", I have been "judged" constantly, and since I stopped going to "their" church.... they have "neglected" me... and even though my faith in Christ-Almighty have been a constant waver, close to completely losing belief... it was a tell-tale sign to not return to FBTC anymore, of which was supposed to be considered "home" but I now reflect FBTC as "toxic" and "hostile" environment, and a sign to write this post... to speak on behalf of those who have been mistreated, misguided, and misunderstood by this organization.
One of these people who I grew up from children, to teenager, now to adult, is now the youth pastor of One Hope with a lovely wife, and lovely children. Listening through the grapevines... I have heard many negative things about him, which I am disappointed to hear. Zackary Bondock, if you read this, call/message me if anything I say here is wrong, or call me to see how I'm doing.
