My husband died in 2013 from a heart attack he died clean and sober toxicology tests came back all negative. He graduated from the program and they put him on their website as a success story then all the sudden he dies they removed his story from their website. I will never forgive them for that. Plus the VA doctors they're they are all unprofessional. Wouldn't trust them to treat a Rat. Larry's unprofessional like the rest of them.

Power outtages almost weekly, lights are constantly flickering, what they consider "food" is barely fit for human consumption. If this is how you treat veterans, I feel sorry for those who served. The staff is by far the worse part of the whole experience, if you need answers in regards to anything, they have no issue passing the blame on to someone else so they don't have to get out of their chairs.

I love this place! It is on spacious grounds with humongous trees , grass and flowers everywhere. Japanese garden, bird sanctuary, Golf Course all open to the public. This VA was responsible for my son getting off drugs. I would love to see him return to this place for the remainder of his probation.

When you first come, the staff is nice and tries to accommodate you. But when they tell you to come back so they can assist you further, that's when the bureaucracy begins! Alot of false promises, false hopes and passing of the buck. Part of the reason is because Vets in the past wrongfully took advantage of the goodness of the benefits and ruined it for those who are sincere and mean well. So, the Staff is held to strict regulations! You must be polite but persistent and prayerful! Don't ever give up!

So far I only have seen the front of the building. That part of it is nostalgic looking and beautiful. The program is hard core... I heard. I am next door in the Bridges Home in Tent B. I will place a photo as soon as I can.... maybe. I am in the VA Hospital in Building 500 now. Second time this past week. Getting all kinds of test on my lungs. The New Directions Program, the Bridges Home, and Building 500 are all a part of a much larger Federal Institution. The Department of Veterans Affairs West LA.
