I made Modesto Central my home church. I love it there. The very first time I walked in everyone greeted me and made me feel so welcomed. I was invited to stay for the fellowship meal after the service. Again, the members approached me and welcomed me. I felt at home from day one and I continue to feel at home there. I love the church family, the programs they have for the kids, the health fairs that they have put on for the community and the weekly sermons. I’m so thankful to the church family. When I got sick, everyone was so supportive and helped in anyway they could. I didn’t feel alone in the process and they helped me to not be discouraged. This church has been a huge blessing for me, I love it here.

I walked into the church this last Sabbath after having not attended a church in a really long time. I was thinking about starting to get back into attending. The greeters looked at me and then went back to having a conversation standing right in front of the bulletins. I had to actually ask them to excuse me so I could grab one. No one then talked to me the entire time. I made eye contact with a lot of people. The sermon was really good. It was on how to be SALT as christians in the lives of others outside the church. The ironic thing is right after the sermon I waited a little before leaving, so I just sat in my seat and watched. A homeless couple who had been sitting throughout the entire sermon in front of me, asked to speak to the pastor. He came over and sat down with them and talked with them. But he explained that he was a visiting pastor who taught at the school but assured them that there was definitely something the church could help them with. I watched as he went and got the elder. After that the elder came over and I saw the guy who spoke walk away shaking his head. The elder asked the homeless couple and looked at me and asked us to leave, that there was nothing the church could do. That's when another person came and stood by the elder. I'm a lawyer and well educated the entire time there the feeling was cold and disgenuine. Just how I remember it. Way to listen to the sermon. I happened to park next to the guy who spoke and his wife. They were outside the car talking and he sounded pretty upset by the homeless couple getting turned away. He then stopped and said happy sabbath to me and his wife and he talked to me for a minute or two. I wouldn't attend this church but the guy who spoke this last sabbath, I don't remember his name, I would go to his church.

Modesto Central is my home. I’ve been going here since I was a kid, I moved away for college, and when I came back to Modesto Central, it felt like coming home. The pastoral staff is amazing and will make you feel like family. Come find a home with us!
