This is one of the most visited parks in all of Riverbank. It sits on the same block as the Teen center, Community Center, and the public swimming pool. It’s directly across the street from the Riverbank Unified School district office, Cardozo Middle school campus, Continuation school campus, and the Community Gym. Not to mention just about every organized event and festival are centered around it. Everything from Farmer’s Markets, to the Wine n Cheese festival, and everything in between. That being said, this is sadly one of the most neglected parks in the entire city. It is always littered with trash, vulgar graffiti covers almost every surface of the play structures and swings. The tables and benches are covered with graffiti, spilled drinks, and all kinds of dirt and grime. There is a really large open grass area but it is so infested with gophers, you can’t really walk across it without kicking a mound of dirt or stepping into a hole. There is one bathroom which is almost always locked, and one fountain, which didn’t work the last time we tried it, but it’s so gross you wouldn’t want to drink from it anyway. Use great caution while crossing the streets near this park, even though it’s in a school zone, we rarely see cars make complete stops at the adjacent intersection, if they even stop at all. There are other parks in town, built next to newer homes and they’re incredibly nice with fancy equipment. This park is nothing fancy that’s for sure, regardless it is still essential for many families, especially with young children, they deserve to explore and have fun safely. If you visit this park, please be responsible and clean up after yourself.
