I was a resident at the Lovelady back in 2007-08. It was part of my transitional sentence into society from incarceration in Alabama Department of Corrections.
I wasn't open to Jesus Christ as my Healer. I was not open to changing much of my life style that got me in prison in the first place, but I listened. And I prayed although I didn't know exactly why or what I was praying for.
The hard truth about most recovery centers, is you will only get out of it what you put into it. Regardless of favoritism, regardless of anything outside ourselves, our willingness to change despite these obstacles is a direct reflection of our character.
Seeds were planted. And years later, I gave my life to Christ and have rehabilitated my hangups through the Celebrate Recovery Program.
None of this could've occurred without the love I received at Lovelady Ministries.
Thank you, Lord for the services provided at Lovelady. And for the prayer ? I know I received after I graduated the program.
It is ironic when we complain about the favoritism certain clients may or may not receive at the Lovelady, but we didn't complain when the dealer favored a client over another. And we sure didn't mind the rats and pests in the trap house or the bars we frequented in our active addiction lifestyle.
I will pray for those who are blinded by the scales over their eyes that they may see, character is built in perseverance and dedication to Christ. Not the Center, not the people in the center. Remove all distractions and God provided a home and ministry in this facility. And that, my friend is what we all need to tap in to.

This place is amazing. Therapy w Ms. Self was very helpful. Only 4 stars because the way things done is a bit backwards.

This place is a perfect example of why the world has major trust issues with Christianity. I came to this place as Amanda Rosell (my maiden name) back in November 2015 feeling worthless, hopeless, and unlovable. I left feeling exactly the same but ten times worse in the spring of 2017 because of the favoritism, hypocrisy, and facades that plague this place.

Don't get me wrong, the mice and roaches were indeed unnerving to deal with. And also ever since that day I heard about complaints of sewage smell in other people's rooms I would constantly fear it would leak on me when i showered. But all that still wasn't as hurtful and impactful to me as the instances of the staff not treating all the clients equally. Some of the women habitually got drunk or high when they were enjoying their weekend pass with their families, and the staff would bend over backwards advocating for them and bend the rules to keep them from losing their beds. Yet other women, if they did that once, they were kicked out, no questions asked.

I remember one time a woman died of an overdose and they made such a big deal out of it, making everyone attend the memorial service for her and even had Tshirts made with her name and picture on them. All that's great and everything... Expect for the fact that they did that for this client because she was someone that Brenda and/or Melinda particularly favored; they did not do that for all who overdosed and died after being kicked out for breaking rules that some clients were allowed to break again and again.

My hope is that in the end Jesus values all lives the same and holds everyone equally accountable for choosing to do wrong, even if professed devout followers of Him like Brenda and Melinda do not.

I actually graduated from this program. They helped me with furthering my education by helping me get into college. They loved me when I felt unlovable. They offer so much to their clients. That includes a personal relationship with you n more importantly, offering a place of worship where you can develope a personal relationship with Jesus. They not only allow children to live there with their mothers, but they actually help guide you down the right path to be reunited with them if you need that. I would strongly suggest The Lovelady Center to all women that choose to have a better life without the use of substances! Life CAN be wonderful.....

I graduated from The Lovelady in 2016 after being there for a very long time. I went to Lovelady in November of 2013 and I had been in active addiction for 20+ years. I had lost everything. And I mean EVERY THING. I left the program for though after 6 months. And truly knew I was going to die if I didn't get back. When I got back I was stayed until God allowed me to go. Now I am married and work a full time job and have a life I never thought I'd had. God has blessed me with a son and my girls and I have relationships. People can say ALOT of negative about any place but the lives that place has saved is countless. And I know that God is in that place

The details of my experience in this program. This program is the best program for women. I was lost homeless had criminal charges pending, and I struggled with staying clean and I was pregnant. I found God in this place the Holy Spirit lives in me and I found it here. I’m grateful for this. They took me to each docter visit with no charge , then to the hospital to see my baby everyday then to the visits I had every week, then to the drug court program every Thursday I had. I wouldn’t have made it as far as I have without the Lovelady program. All of this with No charge and they do it for every single lady there and their children. This place may be an old building but that’s material things. As long as the women and children are taken care of and eaten. Receiving the Holy Spirit which lives in me which lives in every soul there was the best experience I will ever have in my life. I was grateful I came out of the dark hole I once lived in. And without the lovelady center I wouldn’t have. Only the devil comes to destroy something that is of good. And the Lovelady has the devil attacking it daily. But what is for God who can be against it! I love it! Changed my life, my thinking, and how I react to every situation. My faith is so strong. You don’t realize how good the Lovelady program is until your gone and your experience if things that if you was still there you wouldn’t experience.

I have never met 2 women that have hearts as big and genuine as Mrs. Brenda and Mrs. Malinda... The Lovelady Center changed my life and gave me all the tools to utilize out in the world to remain sober and drug free. My relationship with my kids has been restored and I now have a handsome grandson that I am able to spend lots of time with. Had I not went to The Lovelady Center there is no telling if I would even still be alive. Thank you so much for all that you have done for me Mrs. Brenda and Mrs. Malinda. I am now a much stronger, happier, independent woman and I was able to become this woman with the help that The Lovelady Center gave me. This a picture of my most handsome and wonderful grandson. Thank you Lord for The Lovelady Center!!
