RMH is certainly a Godsend to patients and families of patients receiving care at Stanford. With that said, I have been really disappointed to see the lack of advocacy for their guests when it comes to the ongoing AC issue at RMH. The AC has been non-functional for two months. It is 90+ degrees in Palo Alto and many of the families staying at RMH have medically fragile children. The front desk staff have said “they are out here working on it every day” (not true) and “we don’t have AC in our offices either so we’re uncomfortable too.” I think these comments just show the lack of understanding that this issue is having on the guests. Working at a front desk is no comparison to trying to keep a newborn with congenital heart disease happy and healthy. If anyone was working on the AC at my home, every day, for two months and still hadn’t resolved the issue, I’d surely be making some calls on behalf of my family and I. Someone from RMH needs to take control of this issue for these patients. It’s unacceptable that they have to be so uncomfortable during an already trying and stressful time.

Racism & favoritism, all families do not get treated equally sadly… because Stanford LPCH is an absolute extraordinary hospital!

We stayed here during our daughter’s surgery/recovery. We live in va, and a hotel would be extremely expensive. To have a place to stay while a child is going through a difficult time is a blessing. The kitchen always has food, The room was comfortable and clean. Kids activities and lots of places to sit and take quiet time if needed. Nice dinner served nightly. Not having to cook was nice- we were tired after spending days at the drs offices. Wash machines were mostly broken, so we had to go to a laundromat, but still less $$ than a hotel for sure. These places run on mostly donations and volunteers. Really very fortunate to be able to stay. They were running at full capacity, so we had to get a hotel and wait about a week to get a room

My family and I are very greatful for this place that we pretty much called our second home for 3 months while our baby was at lpch. We would not have been able to be with him by his bedside everyday waiting for the day we would get to bring him home. Very accomodated for us cause I had my baby 2 months early so we did not have time to plan for our stay but this house found us a room in less than 2 days we were very lucky and they provided a range of helpful guides to help make arrangements or classes and even pump rentals thank you thank you so much.I dont know what my family would have done without this place.

The RMH at Stanford has always helped my family with our lodging when my son has to see his doctors. We live over 500 miles 1 way to the Bay Area so having a safe, clean and comfortable facility to stay at makes all the difference in the world.

Kicked us out without warning because we had a little food in our room when we live 12 hours from home and our newborn baby has months more to stay at the hospital. We have been having to sleep in our car and they were incredibly rude to us and wouldn't help us in any way. They can all go to hell
