As a former San Ramon Valley Unified School District Elementary School Principal, I experienced first hand the life changing mental health support program for students and families, sponsored by the Discovery Counseling Center. (DCC). The School Counseling and Intervention Program (SCIP) is a long-standing successful counseling program in which interns from DCC work with at risk students on a 1:1 basis. DCC serves approximately 400 students each school and is in all of our schools. I am so thrilled that our students and families have the opportunity to use the SCIP for mental health support, problem solving skills, and to build student self-esteem.

Robert fell short of professional standards but also left me feeling demeaned and disheartened. He embodied unprofessionalism, rudeness, and outright condescension.

I was met with an air of superiority that immediately set the tone for our session. He seemed intent on asserting their dominance and belittling my concerns.

He displayed a shocking lack of empathy, dismissing my feelings and experiences with a callousness that was both hurtful and inappropriate. He was eager to impose their own opinions and judgments without regard for my perspective.

What truly stood out was his blatant condescension. He spoke to me as if I were a child, using patronizing language and tone that made me feel small and insignificant. It was as though they viewed themselves as superior beings, looking down on me from a pedestal of self-righteousness.

Robert demonstrated a complete disregard for boundaries and professional ethics.

I was subjected to a barrage of negativity and disrespect. I don't know why he thinks he can treat people like this.
