Fort Payne's Finest aren't singing on stage at June Jam or touring the country or running for political office...Fort Payne's Finest are ALL at The ARC!! ? The term "disability" is a word that loses all meaning and pretense the second you enter The ARC. Everyone there is a treasure and a gift to our community, and everything about The ARC reflects that. From the ice cream truck to the Outfield Angels (the softball team that has whooped up on every other team in the county for YEARS, but I digress...) to my time with them as a yoga instructor on Thursdays, to the hundreds of wonderful events, activities, and places I have yet to discover; I never cease to be amazed at the environment, the people, and the wonderful place that exists within The ARC. Every need from mental, physical, and emotional health is provided for by fully-trained professionals with a passion, love, and commitment for what they do. It's not about viewing those who are mentally and physically different from us as "less than"--it's about meeting unique individuals with unique challenges and building a thriving, successful, and happy life for them--and they deserve all of that and more. We have a lot to learn from them and they never cease to amaze me. I pray they will never fire me as their Volunteer Yoga Instructor because they are the best part of my week and I ALWAYS leave The ARC better than I was when I walked in. I encourage any of you who would like to know more or are interested in helping (be it donation of funds, clothing, your time, etc.) to check out their website and reach out--there is no greater investment for any resource than at The ARC.
Did I mention I REALLY love The ARC? ♀️♀️?
