I was in a tough spot and I came to them for help with my food security. They denied me any support 4 times in a row and gave me a new excuse every time. For example: "you're outside of our area"(not true, you can go to any food bank location in San diego county that is open and serving). It's cool that they want to help, but if they could clarify that they discriminate against specifically we know not to wait in line just to be sent away. They receive food from Costco and other local businesses, but i wonder if Costco knows that they have their own code of conduct outside of San Diego food bank policies and discriminate against State and federal laws.

Years ago we needed their services to help with food and clothing but now I donate here ....I like the center because sometimes things need some cleaning or are scratched and the big places like Goodwill etc won't take items for this reason but the help center does. Nice people and really help the community!

I go here for assistant for my patients and usually everyone is helpful but the last time I went staff was extremely rude and careless for the situation I came in for. I wasn't the person in need but I was the one that came in to help pick up a blanket for a patient and they said I was too late even if I was standing in line for over 45 minutes. I think some of the staff forget why they are there and I felt bad for the people that they may act this way towards who actually go in for help. I now try to find other locations for assistance..

Our number one place to donate clothing because we know they insure donations go where they are truly needed plus there is no charge to those in need.

The volunteers are kind, helpful, and firm. The center focuses on giving government-sponsored food to Lakeside residents.
Nonresidents are given some food items donated by private citizens. We are from El Cajon, so, we were graciously given chili, cornmeal stuffing, vegetable oil, and a yummy cheesecake.
Lovely men and women brought donations of toys, books, board games, baby supplies, household goods, and clothing.
One guest at a time may spend 7 minutes in the men's and women's clothing sheds to glean articles of clothing for family members. It is wise to launder or dry clean the clothing, once it is brought home.
Covid-19 protocols Are observed. Days & hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
