This was a great place to go for (tent) camping! We chose to go during the summer and heat wave but where we camped there was shade from the trees and there was a breeze that help us stay cool enough. At night is where the real magic happens. The amount of stars is breathtaking. I was able to get some amazing pictures of the stars. Being to close to San Diego, and not too far away from the freeway, this campground is perfect. The restrooms were clean and well kept (except for a few spiders but it's camping, they are going to be there), never had a problem of there not being any toilet paper, soap or paper towels. The showers are quarter operated starting at .50 cents for 4 minutes to $1.25 for 10 minutes. The water did get nice and hot quickly for me and plenty of space in the shower to dry off and change too. The only thing I would complain about it the door gap, for all who wander over there they can see right into the shower ..... I tried covering the gap but didn't have much success. We are all girls but I like my privacy when in the shower. The roads did have a lot of big cracks, so not ideal for skateboarding or rollerblading. There was plenty of walking trails, and for such a beautiful area it is good to take advantage of all the walking trails. The campsite itself, there was plenty of room, I never felt like I was too close to our neighbor. Very well kept and clean.
The only downside to this campground is T-Mobile does not get reception there. Thankfully our friend had Verizon and we were able to use their phone to call our friends that would be heading out for the day to visit. I don't mind not having service really but we still need and want to communicate with friends. We really lost service a couple miles down the road before arriving to the campground.
Overall a great campground.

We rented Cabin #4, it was perfect size for our family of 4, our neighbors in the next cabin over were quiet and played nice music, parking lot was large, close, and you can easily get to the shore for fishing or hiking.

Great to spend time outdoors with the family. Best way to camp with access to bathrooms and other amenities like a park. Not to mention the hiking, boating and fishing (with permit).

Be sure to bring anything cool you down anytime you visit to camp, hammocks and other things to hang in the tree are not allowed.

Dogs are allowed but be sure to leash then all the time. This is a dog friendly place. Which is a plus.

Highly recommended!

Spot 13! The Stars are breathtaking when there's a new moon! The weather I checked online for Lake Morena Campgroind was not accurate. I'm not sure if only I experienced that, but the area of the campsite was 10 degrees colder from what it said online. You can only have a fire until 11 pm, so bring super warm clothes!

This is a hidden gem. It gives you the true experience of being out in the mountains with the luxury of power and water. There’s tons of wildlife out there from mountain lions to quail. It’s a bird watching paradise and is probably my favorite camp sight, I would gladly live there. There is limited cellular reception and internet in the area but my tracfone work fine while out there. It gets truly cold at night and is snuggled into the terrain so pleasantly. The lake is man made but supports the local wildlife and is a lovely sight to see out in the middle of otherwise desolate desert.

Stayed here for about a week, ending Thanksgiving am. All sites were clean and maintained. There are no issues with power. Water is on a boil notice, so I filled my tank. Full hookups are available. Camp restrooms have a coin-operated shower. Camp was still open until Wednesday night, Thursday am. It was packed by the time I left. Talked to a couple of the "neighbors," many have been going there multiple times for decades.

First overnight backpacking trip to the perfect location. (NB permit needed ) The views with mountains, valleys, and lake were expensively beautiful. Never camped before overnight, but it was very rewarding to be in the wild under the star lit sky. Fishing permits are available for the lake.

Great spot to camp or visit! The rv park is clean and well organized. I wanted to rent one of the cabins but they were all booked. Gives me a reason to come back another time.
